Nothing Comes From You: A Poem

You are always there on celebration day

With a kind word,

Encouragement, and praise

Party for the ages.

But

The sun always goes down,

Rainy days come around.

When the skies parted, you departed.

Broken pieces,

Fear soiled cheeks,

Scrutinized, and torn apart.

Can a broken heart break more?

It can.

Timetables and opinions

Captured in a clear glass box

But no one sees pain.

Invalid,

We discard the hurting hearts.

Thank you for being there on my

Sunshine days,

For scattering on my cloudy ones.

I know now what to expect from you.

Nothing.

Like A Lover: A Poem

Pour the water,

Flashing blue,

I press the button,

One step closer to you.

Wait a minute till you go,

My cup overflows with your velvet love.

I cling to you like a lover,

You are much warmer than any heart.

I take you in one moment at a time,

You are a comfort to me.

Any day that is filled with you

Is going to be a valiant try.

Another drink, I put you down

One last time, till tomorrow comes.

An average day unfolds,

I can’t wait to start it all again with you.

A Mystery: A Poem

It seems to be all unknown,

A mystery,

Before every known was known,

It was unknown.

Chance would fit the bill,

But that’s the easy answer.

Luck is to simple a guess,

There is always depth.

Unknowns aren’t shallow in nature,

There is more beneath the surface.

A puzzle comes in pieces,

A story is in chapters.

Unknown is all I see,

I wonder and dream

Behind those twin coffees.

What do you want?

A story contained in a heart

Unable to put you down,

A page turner,

You are a mystery to me.
