Day 7: Transformation

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Romans, I have a thing for Paul. If he was man here in today’s world, I would be gaga for him. He is my Bible boyfriend. My favorite chapter has to be Romans 12. The first two verse are probably the most quoted, but I think they are crucial to us as we wrestle with our disappointment and start building up our wonder muscles again.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2

As we continue to lay down our timelines and selfishness, we need to hold on to the truth that by being with God we are being transformed. The old stuff in our lives is being made new and more into the likeness of who Jesus is. We can move forward in trust that Jesus is doing a good work in us and is equipping us to face our pain. Staying in our selfishness and hanging on to timelines is conforming. Choosing to trust Jesus with our lives is a transforming and renewing work, that He is doing in us. We can believe that our dreams and desires are in good hands and they are being refined along with the rest of us. Laying it all down is our worship, trusting that our dreams are purposeful and they always have been.

God has given us dreams and desires for a reason, they are not silly. We are not silly for dreaming or believing even if they do not come to be like we hoped, God is doing something better. We are being transformed. As our minds are being renewed our dreams are being refined. We can learn to wonder again.
