What Blooms From Dust: Review

What Blooms From Dust by James Markert Available Now!

Jeremiah Goodbye is set to meet his fate in the electric chair, but he is given a second chance at life. With the flip of a coin he heads back home, Nowhere, Oklahoma, to settle a score with his twin brother Josiah. But the world he once knew is nowhere to be found, as he is welcomed by the Dust Bowl. The gift he once relied on to show him the way, is just as unrecognizable as the road leading home. Along the way Jeremiah accidentally rescues a young boy, Peter Cotton. As they set off for their destination, they are greeted by darkened skies and the darkened hearts of fearful and tired townspeople, who have let the years of hardship bury them under the dust. Jeremiah and Peter try to protect the townspeople from themselves, while Jeremiah has to face the demons and guilt of his past, which has destroyed his family.

I am a sucker for a pretty cover. I had seen this book on multiple occasions, but I am always wary of taking a chance on an author I have never heard of before. But, I decided to give What Blooms From Dust a try and it did not disappoint. This book is mysterious, mystical, and written in a way that kept me coming back for more and wanting to get to know these characters. I enjoy stories where the author takes an inanimate object, in this case dust, and turns it into a character. The story blooms with the truth that hope can be found in the darkness and kindness is what makes it grow. What Blooms From Dust is a beautiful reminder that no one and nothing is too far gone to experience new life and second chances.  I highly recommend this read, it surprised me with its heart and beauty.

The publisher provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookLook Blogger, in exchange for my honest review.
